28 Weeks

Well, I'm 28 weeks today!! Crazy how time is flying by; less than 12 weeks now to go!! I'm officially in my 3rd trimester now too!! Final stretch!

I have my doctor's appointment on Monday and I'm hoping we get to see Carter as we didn't get to at our last appointment so it has been 2 months since we've seen our baby boy!! I'm really curious to see how big he's getting!!

My numerous baby apps tell me Carter is the size of an eggplant, head of cauliflower, or a chinese cabbage this week. He should be almost 17 inches long and close to 3lbs. Again we'll see if he's ahead of that or not Monday.

Most things I've read said that if for some reason he was born at this point, he has a high chance of living, but we want him to stay in as long as possible so he can be healthy!

I'm definitely getting to the uncomfortable stage of pregnancy. My lower back kills me especially if I've been laying on the couch and get up. I can barely walk. This past weekend my feet started swelling some! Most people probably wouldn't notice it, but Kevin and I did. Also my wedding ring doesn't fit very well as of this past weekend as well. Its a pretty thick band, so I usually can shove it on, but getting it off is a different story. So I started wearing my blue topaz ring Kevin gave me last year on my left hand!

I'm also realizing I just can't do as much anymore. I get too exhausted and start hurting. Yesterday I walked around Target for awhile and that combined with this ridiculous heat just did me in.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!! We have work to do around the house, I am showing some houses, and we have Brooklynn & Braden's 2nd Birthday party on Sunday!

Weekend in Alabama

Well this past weekend Kevin and I made our final air trip before Carter arrives! We headed out to Alabama for a weekend full of festivities!

We got in Thursday evening and I headed straight to a wedding shower for Kevin's sister, Holly. On Friday we had a rehearsal and rehearsal dinner for a wedding that Kevin was in this weekend. His friend Andrew and Heather were getting married! We had such a wonderful time!!

On Saturday we had the wedding and it was great! Kevin enjoyed getting to see so many friends and family friends from growing up that he hadn't seen in awhile.

Productive Weekend

Hope everyone had a great weekend!! We seemed to have a pretty productive one!

On Friday we FINALLY received our Baby Glider! I was super excited about it. Kevin decided to go ahead and put it together that night. It looks great and is super comfortable! I think Kevin is in LOVE with it! It may be his version of a lazy boy some day after we're done using it for kids!

On Saturday we woke up and had to say goodbye to my car! Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited about my new car and not obsessively attached to my other car. But I did have a bit of a moment when we were leaving it. You see it was the first thing Kevin & I purchased together. It was kind of a wedding gift. So it has a lot of sentimental value. It was a GREAT car! So I teared up a bit, but I'll mostly blame that on pregnancy hormones.

After that we work on arranging Carter's room. We sold Saturday our desk that was in there on Craigslist so it freed up space for us to finally start figuring out where we wanted everything. Kevin then went to work on putting the last piece of furniture together and did a great job with the dresser.

After some arranging, we decided that my trundle bed was not going to fit in there with everything else. You see we have my trundle bed from growing up. I have loved having it because it was 2 extra spots for family/friends to sleep when they came over. I really wanted to paint it and such to make it work in Carter's room so we'd have a bed in there in case one of us crashed in there during a late night or whatever. But after arranging and rearranging several times, I finally had to let go of that idea! So to Craigslist we went again.

Not going to work...too cramped!

Finally on Sunday we were able to sell the bed on Craigslist, so back to rearranging we went. I think this is what we finally decided on. Now its time to DECORATE!!!! :)

Being Pregnant

DAYS LEFT
til Carter is here!!!
(well give or take)

I can't believe time is flying by!! Less than 100 days....so exciting! I don't think we'll be going past my due date if this boy continues to grow how he is! Kevin is the cutest right now, all he keeps saying is he is just ready for Carter to be here so he can hold him! He really is going to be the best dad!! I'm so thankful for the man he is and the man he'll teach Carter to be!

Today I thought I'd talk about what its like to be pregnant!! Pregnancy symptoms! Honestly I really can't complain as I've had a pretty easy pregnancy compared to some people I hear about. I rarely even have questions for the doctor at each visit! But as this pregnancy progresses there are definitely things I deal with that I was expecting, but also things I wasn't expecting.

Early in my pregnancy (first 12 weeks or so) I only got sick twice. Other than that food just sounded gross a lot of the time. We'd go out to each and NOTHING sounded good. That was terrible. I love food, I hated when nothing sounded good. Jamba Juice was my best friend in those days...always sounded good.

I really haven't had any WEIRD food cravings either. I mean I did crave Jamba Juice alot, but I think it was the fruit I was craving from it. I have always liked Jamba Juice, but I haven't had it as much as I have in the last few months though.

One thing that was weird is when I went to get my hair done back in May, my hair girl (who has done my hair for almost 9 years) said I had lost probably about 20% of my hair! That FREAKED me out. But as she said, I have the thickest hair in the world, so if someone was able to stand loosing that much hair, it was me!! She said my hair just wasn't as thick as it always had been. Weird hormones!

Also my skin has been really dry this pregnancy. Thankfully I use Arbonne products daily on my face, so I don't notice it as much, but I did get a facial recently and she just said how dry it really was. Now my lips are another story! Not something I was expecting. At first my lips would just get really dry and cracked in the corners. I used everything under the moon to see if it would help. Sometimes it would, sometimes it wouldn't. But in the past week it has changed. The corner of my lips don't feel cracked, but my whole lips feel BURNED and DRY. I'm constantly putting stuff on my lips and it doesn't seem to help AT ALL! Any suggestions would be great. Its really more of just a nuisance. Not fun!

In the last few weeks my back has started hurting A LOT. I guess all this extra weight out front has to do with that (obviously)! My nurse even suggested I go get one of these belly band/brace things. And it actually really helps. It feels weird to wear especially when Carter is kicking. They assured me it doesn't hurt the baby. But I usually just wear it when I'm going to moving around alot or sitting in one place for a while.

Also you can't really stay in one position for a long time. For instance if I'm laying on the couch with Kevin, I get really uncomfortable after awhile of being in one place and I have to adjust myself. The same is true at night. Honestly I haven't been sleeping that well, mainly because of the discomfort and having to rotate sides SEVERAL times during the night. But I know getting less sleep is God's way of preparing me when this baby gets here and doesn't sleep much!!

Also I get REALLY hot at night. I'll wake up at least once during the night and am really sweaty. This has started in the last week. YUCK, not fun! I am pretty much sleeping with just a sheet now. The comforter is on the floor.

I've had some acid reflux, but nothing major. The doctor got me on Prevacid and it has really helped.

Also back when I was like 12 or 16 weeks they said I was already mildly anemic (low on iron). So they went ahead and put me on an over the counter supplement. I've been taking it daily since. Well after my last appointment they called me after testing again and I'm even MORE anemic. So they had to put me on a prescription. I'm hoping that helps.

I have been a bit emotional/hormonal as well. Nothing crazy (at least I don't think so, Kevin may disagree, lol), but I do tend to get a bit more stressed easily or take things a bit more personally than I normally would. I just have to try and take things easy and not over due myself or get too worked up over things.

Now looking back over everything I wrote, it seems like a lot. But it really isn't that bad, at least most of the time. And I'll gladly go through these things to meet my baby boy soon!! So excited the double digit countdown can begin!!!

These pictures are getting me super excited about Texas Football! Just a little over a month away!! I hope I can make it to at least one game this year with being pregnant and having a baby and all! ;)

What Not to Say to A Pregnant Woman

Well today I'm 25 weeks pregnant. Time is just flying by!! 15 weeks to go!

I thought I'd give some advice today on things not to say to a pregnant woman. Honestly I thought being pregnant I wasn't going to have to worry too much about body image stuff. You're pregnant for goodness sakes, I thought I would enjoy this time of helping my baby grow and not worry too much about weight and such. Well was I wrong! I don't know if everyone who has been pregnant deals with this but I have.

When I was first pregnant it would amaze me that people (complete strangers that is) would ask me when I was due. And this was before we started telling people. It would make me so upset because I thought people shouldn't be able to tell I'm pregnant yet. I guess thankfully I was pregnant, but still. Thanks Bed, Bath, and Beyond clerk!

Especially if you don't know someone, unless it was really obvious, you don't ask them if they are pregnant or when they are due!

Then once I started showing more, these were the type questions I would get from complete strangers or maybe semi acquaintances.

"Ohh when are you due honey?" - stranger
"Oh in October!"- me
(then I'd get a funny look from them)
"Oh I thought you were due like next month." - stranger

REALLY?

Or I love this one...

"Ohh when are you due?" -stranger
"Oh in October." -me
"Oh is it twins?" -stranger
"Nope, just one." - me

Again, really?

I just don't understand people. And don't they realize that you're really hurting a pregnant woman's self esteem. Literally as soon as I start to feel comfortable about my belly size, someone will say something like that to me.

But, I do know in the back of my head I have nothing to worry about. You see, my husband is 6'5'' and I'm 5'2''. I have a small torso, so really the only place for the baby to go is OUT. AND I'm having a boy! (I've heard you carry boys out front more and girls you gain weight all over!) AND at my 20 week appointment, Carter was already ahead of schedule in size. So thanks to my tall husband and to the fact I'm having a boy, this baby is probably going to be quite large when he's born. AND I'm right where I should be on weight gain during my pregnancy. But of course I don't have time to explain that to every person that says stupid stuff to me and insinuates that I have a pretty big belly for 25 weeks.

My point for this, is really just think before you speak to a pregnant woman. We are already emotional enough, we don't need people to add fuel to the fire. Honestly sometimes I want to respond in a not so nice way so they realize what they are saying to me, but I hold back.
