Texas Independence Day!

Happy
Texas Independence Day!!!

175 years ago today, a small group of men met in a small community on the Brazos River to declare Texas’ independence and the creation of a new country.  It was a cold and windy day, and the unfinished meeting hall’s windows had to be covered with blankets while they deliberated freedom from tyranny.  200 miles away, the men of the Alamo were under siege by the Mexican Army, and would hold on for only four more days.  On April 21st, Texas’ independence was finally secured in an 18 minute battle on the banks of the San Jacinto River.  Long may we remember their sacrifices for the freedoms we enjoy today…
