Carter's 3 Months Old

Our Sweet Boy is 3 Month's Old Today!!

I honestly can't believe 3 months has passed since I gave birth to him. He has grown into such a little man full of personality.

*He loves to talk now. Always jibbering away and talks back to us. It is super cute.
*He loves to play with this wired like ball because he can put his fingers in between it and hold it. BUT, he tries to put it in his mouth and he gets super frustrated when it won't.
*He is really good at grabbing things and bringing it up to his mouth.
*He loves to lay on his back and sway from side to side. Getting closer to rolling over.
*He loves tummy time and pulling up and rocking from side to side a bit.
*He loves Scout his Leap Frog Dog.
*He also loves his dance and wiggle dog.
*He loves doing everything he can to watch TV. We try and face him away from the tv, but he'll try and maneuver his head to where he can see it.
*He's usually in such a good mood in the morning when he wakes up. Always smiling.
*He's sleeping normally 9-9.5 hours at night. (Mommy and Daddy love this!)
*He enjoys looking around outside when we go for walks, but then usually falls asleep.

Last week we went to the doctor and he weighed 15 1/2 lbs. Growing like a weed!!!

New Year!

I don't know if 2013 can top 2012!! We were blessed to find out we were having a child and then we finally welcomed him into this world in 2012! We are excited though to watch Carter grow in 2013. He brings so much joy into our lives already, it will be neat to see him continually change and grow!

We had a wonderful Christmas with all of our family! It was nice to have Kevin home with us for over a week! He heads back to work tomorrow and we are sad! Carter also starts going to his sitter next week!! Lots of changes in the next few weeks. Pray for us to get use to our new schedule!

Here is to hoping for a wonderful 2013!! We already have a few exciting trips planned! Alabama in March for a wedding, Panama City Beach in May, and Chicago probably in August to visit Ashley and Patrick!!

Carter's 2 Months Old!!

Time flies by!!! Carter is 2 month's old today!!!

I'm growing, growing, growing.

Tomorrow, Carter goes to the doctor and I'm curious to see how much he's grown over the last month.
He's definitely more aware of things going around these days. He smiles for us even more and focuses in on us most of the time. He still loves his little activity ocean mat and loves to hit and grab all the fun things.

His new favorite thing is me reading him books. We lay on the floor upstairs in his play area and I read to him. He just LOVES it. He moves his arms and legs and smiles and makes noises. Its super cute!!

He also is enjoying tummy time more. And is continually lifting his head better and better. He still loves bath time as well.

I would say his favorite thing is his bear lovey that Auntie Ash gave him. He likes to try and eat it and he holds onto it alot.

He loves watching the fan and lights. He's great in the car still. One thing we aren't too happy about, is that he's started sucking on his fists alot. Hopefully it won't be something that he doesn't forever.

He's so good in public too. Last Friday we took him out to eat with us. The only other couple of times we've done that, he's slept in his car seat the whole time. Well, Friday he was awake the entire time and just stared and looked around; didn't even make a peep!! We were so proud of him. We also finally took him to church for the first time Sunday and he was awake most of the time and was the perfect little angel. He didn't cry or anything the whole time.

Carter is also sleeping great. Minus a couple of times, most nights he sleeps from 10:30pm to anywhere from 5:30-7AM. Mommy is loving THAT!

He has started being a little bit more fussy lately than he use to be during the day, but hopefully its only temporary.

4 Things NOT to Do This Christmas

I read this article HERE. It is by Grace Driscoll, Mark Driscoll's wife! I loved it and thought I would share it. Such a good reminder this Christmas...

4 Things NOT to Do This Christmas

Are the holidays a stressful time for you, or do you look forward to them? Are you concerned with having enough time and money to shop, or do you have a plan and budget? Are the decorations another hassle to deal with, or do you love the festive look and include the kids in the activity?
I started out on the stressed, concerned, hassle side of viewing the holidays and have been moving toward looking forward, planning, and having the kids participate side over the course of our nineteen years of marriage. I would pause on Christmas Day to actually remember Jesus’ birth and be humbled by the story each year, but for the most part, the weeks leading up to Christmas caused anxiety for me.
I don’t think Jesus wants his birthday to be stressful, do you? I realized I had lost focus of Jesus during his birthday celebration. I wanted a perfectly decorated house (though décor is definitely not a gift of mine), a tree that wasn’t touched by little hands that could break ornaments, gifts for everyone I could think of no matter how much time away from family it took to shop (in the days before the internet came about), and a task list a mile long that I didn’t want anyone to get in the way of so we could have the “perfect” holiday. Looking back on it all, and while still working on some wrong behaviors, that doesn’t make for a “holy-day.”

So after repenting of not focusing on the person of Jesus, I came up with a list of four things not to do this Christmas, with God's help:

1. Don’t be a Scrooge.
Don’t be so uptight and task-focused that no one, including your spouse and kids, wants to be around you. Let people participate in the activities and traditions, even if they have a new way of doing it. Kids are naturally joyful, so borrow some of their joy and have fun baking, decorating, shopping, singing, and laughing. Don’t take that joy from them, participate in it.

2. Don’t forget to give generously…and to receive graciously.
Don’t be so concerned with giving gifts that you forget to receive graciously. I love to give and sometimes have a hard time receiving. I need to let others enjoy giving as well. Or, on the other end of the spectrum, don’t be so obsessed with receiving gifts that you don’t give generously. Jesus gave us the most important gifts of forgiveness of sins and eternal life. There is no excuse for being greedy, especially when we are celebrating the birth of the Giver.

3. Don’t hold on to the past.
Don’t let a history of difficult Christmases ruin this year, too. Many holidays are hard reminders of loneliness if you’ve lost a loved one or you aren’t in a loving community or family, financial pressures, or unresolved family tension. This year can, by God’s grace, be different. Focus on Jesus and as Proverbs 3:5–8 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.”

4. Don’t forget Jesus.
It’s his birthday that we are celebrating at Christmas—not Santa, gifts, trees, holiday performances, shopping/sales, snow, cookies, or parties. None of those things is bad if we remember Jesus first. If you want to remember who he is, read (or reread) the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They help us understand why none of what we use to celebrate would even matter if it weren’t for Jesus being born over 2,000 years ago.

Enjoy Christmas this year! Thankfully Jesus is helping me do that more and more every year—which is a wonderful Christmas gift.
