Day 5, Favorite Christmas Songs

Hands down "Oh Holy Night" is my favorite Christmas song!!!

Oh holy night!
The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of the dear Savior's birth!
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
Till he appear'd and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn!

Fall on your knees
Oh hear the angel voices
Oh night divine
Oh night when Christ was born
Oh night divine
Oh night divine

Truly He taught us to love one another
His law is love and His gospel is peace
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother
And in His name all oppression shall cease
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
Let all within us praise His holy name

Day 2 - Christmas Traditions

Well since Kevin and I have only been married for a year and a half and we don't have any kids yet, we haven't really started any Christmas Traditions. The last couple of years we have alternated whose family we are with on Christmas. This year we will go see my family the weekend before Christmas and then we'll be in Alabama during Christmas.

It is interesting learning that everyone has different Christmas Traditions, and Kevin and I's from growing up are completely different! See when I was little we always went to my mom's parents house and celebrated Christmas with them and my mom's 3 siblings and my cousins. We always knew that while we were at Grandmommy and Granddaddy's house, Santa would come to our house. So that night after we got home, Santa would have left presents already!! We would open presents from Santa and then open all of our other presents under the tree from our parents. That night we'd go to bed and Santa would come back to our house and fill out stockings over night! So when we woke up on Christmas, we got to find out what was in our stockings. I realize thats not how most people do Christmas, but growing up I didn't know anything different!! I love how we celebrated Christmas.

But since I met Kevin, he said our children WILL NOT open presents on Christmas Eve!! BOOOO!!! So we've talked some about what Christmas would be like someday when we have kids. For one, we want to be at our house for Christmas. That means if any of our family wants to spend Christmas with us, they can come down to Austin!! I just really want my children to be in their own home for Christmas and not traveling all over the place. I wanted Santa to come to their house! I also think I have convinced Kevin that if we can't open all of our presents on Christmas Eve, that we can at least choose one present from under the tree to open on Christmas Eve, and then all others will have to wait until Christmas morning! What do you think? I think its a great idea to still go along with my traditions growing up in some way!

So we'll see what happens some day when we have kids!!

Some decorations we took from my parents, some we have bought over the last couple of years! Can't wait to add more stuff every year, because if I had it my way, I would want to by TONS of Christmas decorations all at once! Kevin has to hold me back!!
